Stroud's mayor was re-elected at the town council's annual meeting on Monday, May 14.
"I'd like to thank you all for putting your trust in me again as mayor," Kevin Cranston told his fellow councillors as they voted him in unopposed.
In his remarks, he highlighted his recent visit to local homelessness charity Marah and lamented an increase in Stroud’s regular street sleepers, pinning the blame on austerity.
He was nominated by John Marjoram, a former Stroud mayor himself who praised Mr Cranston for helping steer the council through “troubled waters”.
Councillors also re-elected Margaret Poulton as deputy mayor, again unopposed.
