HARESFIELD C of E Primary School received a special visit after a life cycle project prompted Tweedy the clown to make an appearance at the school.

The students in classes 1 and 2 at the school were hatching chicks as part of the project and the decision to name one of them Tweedy was made after vote.

Class four teacher, Mrs Alcock-Gore, took a picture of the chick and used Twitter to contact Tweedy the clown to inform him of his namesake.

Last Tuesday Tweedy arrived at the school to entertain the children and meet the chick with whom he shares a name.

A spokesperson for the school, said: “Tweedy performed his classic tricks, blowing up balloons and messing about with his hat upside-down. He was very good and pleased all the children.

“The unexpected visit made the children’s day, especially the year 6’s who had finished their second SATS paper that morning.

“The children were very pleased with the visit, and decided that Tweedy visiting was the best part of the week.”
