A GRAMMAR school in Gloucestershire will hold its first ever women's education conference.

Marling School hopes to inspire and inform female, black and minority teachers within a collaborative and supportive platform.

This comes as part of the national #WomenEd grassroots movement which works to connect existing and aspiring leaders in education.

Invited guest speakers include Dame Janet Trotter, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, and Jo Grills, former director of education at Gloucestershire County Council.

Emma Gray, the business manager at Marling talked of finding a balance in terms of gender and ethnicity in the education system.

"This conference is an opportunity for leaders in education to listen to our inspiring guest speakers, and to network and take ideas back to their own schools about how they can be 10 per cent braver to get to where they want to be," said Emma.

"In an increasingly diverse student population, #WomenEd campaigns and uses its collective power to promote a more equitable balance."

The conference will run from 4.30pm to 7pm at Marling School, Cainscross Road on Friday, June 8.
