The amount of cash in council coeffers has an "extremely uncertain" future, according to a budget health check set to be debated in Stroud later this week.

Though Stroud District Council's main pot of money benefited from a significant underspend this year, on Thursday councillors must decide how not to fall short of funds for council-run services beyond 2020.

Earmarking this year's underspend for reserves is one possible solution on the table at the May 24 meeting of SDC's strategy and resources committee.

The extra cash this year in part comes from business rates and a bigger than expected income from leisure centre The Pulse in Dursley - it managed to gain £270,000 profit last year.

Additionally it's hoped that the proposed transfer of the Subscription Rooms, which costed the council £45k during 2017/18, to the town council will mean one less budgetary burden for SDC.
