SPEAKERS from Stroud Women’s Refuge will provide some some answers to how the organisation supports families in need at a meeting next week.
Every year, thousands of women and children are forced to flee the violence in their own homes.
Organisers say that for these families, a refuge is more than just a safe place, it is a place where they can regain the strength to build new lives.
But those who run the organisation say that recent cuts have shut down more and more women’s refuges.
In Gloucestershire, Stroud Women’s Refuge is the only one left.
The meeting hopes to rally members of the community to help keep the refuge open.
Thursday, June 14, 7.30pm
Subscription Rooms, George Street, Stroud, GL5 1AE
Entrance: Free
