WILKO in Stroud has re-opened following a break-in, with the manager of Merrywalks suspecting a burglar has come back for more.
Police attended the shop in Merrywalks Shopping Centre at 11.40pm on Tuesday, June 12 after the intruder alarm was activated.
The next day, the shop was temporarily closed with the shutters down, and a printed poster read: "Due to unforseen circumstances we will be closed until further notice. Thank you."
Usually the store opens from 8am to 6pm on a Wednesday.
Police have been unable to confirm whether anything was stolen or damaged.
This is the second time the shop has been burgled this year and Ray Ellaby, the manager of Merrywalks Shopping Centre, thinks the same person is behind both break-ins.
"Initial video evidence suggests its the same thief," he told the SNJ, after he compared CCTV footage.
A spokesperson from Wilko said; “Unfortunately, our store opened later than usual this morning while police investigated an incident that happened overnight.
"We are of course working with police in their on-going enquiries, and the store is now up and running as usual.”
