A MOTHER is concerned after her child was nearly knocked off her horse by a speeding car near Lypiatt Park last weekend.

The incident took place on the bend on the way up to Bisley from Stroud, just outside the entrance to Lypiatt Park and Fennels Farm.

Speaking to the SNJ, Rose Turvey discussed why she is concerned for her childs safety.

"We are not able to ride off the main roads as there are no bridle paths in Lypiatt, since they shut Toadsmoor woods," said Rose.

"As a consequence we have to ride on the road, but because of this my 10 year old daughter and her friend were very nearly hit by a speeding 4x4 car.

"Unfortunately the uncut verges and the lack of safe riding routes mean this is a danger we face everyday."

The mother went on to describe how she is worried there will be a fatal incident.

"They must either open bridlepaths or cut the verges for better visibility," added Rose.

Gloucestershire County Council have been approached for a comment.
