A VIBRANT new bar and street food kitchen will open in Stroud soon.

Sama Sama located in Union Street is rumoured to become one of the largest independent bars in Stroud and will serve an array of dishes from around the world.

The exciting new bar is set to replace Jrool Bistro and is the latest venture for manager Laurence Kapoor and head chef Yasmin Sharma who want the bar to reflect their own experiences eating and backpacking.

After his long history in the hospitality and food industry, including previously working at No 23 Bar and Bistro as the head chef, Laurence is more than ready for his latest adventure.

Speaking to the SNJ Laurence outlined his hopes for Sama Sama.

"We want the menu to incorporate a variety of cuisines including Indian, Mexican, Jamaican and Brazilian dishes," said Laurence.

"The open street food kitchen will reflect the multicultural style of Sama Sama, but at the same time food will be sourced from producers in the community."

Customers can expect a casual but trendy venue which will host regular live music and DJs from across the region.

"Part of our aim is to bring alternative nightlife options to the town centre," added Laurence.

In terms of the design the venue will be filled with bright colours and artwork from the communities art agency, the Donnelly Sisters.

Additionally, Luke Tinney of Inkarnation Tattoo & Art Studio was brought in to create Sama Sama's fantastic chalk sign.

There will be a sunny and spacious courtyard where customers can order food or enjoy a drink with friends.

Along with this there will be a herb garden that will be used to season dishes in the street food kitchen.

"I would say the design has been influenced by our time in South America," Laurence explained.
