A pop up garden design clinic recently helped Miserden residents get the most from their budget.

Those heading to the Nursery on Saturday, June 9 were able to quiz landscape architect Rachael Emous-Austin of Austin Design Works about how to add colour and structure to their gardens, how to choose the right plant for the right place and how to brief a garden designer to get the most from your budget.

Customers were encouraged to bring along a photo of their garden to help Rachael work out the best solution for their scheme.

The Nursery welcomed a great number of visitors from across the region keen to chat with Rachael and to buy the correct plants.

Garden sizes ranged from the very small to multiple acres.

Such was the interest that Rachael had very little voice left after the event!

Rachael enjoyed the event immensely, giving her the opportunity to speak to a wealth of gardeners.

“I really enjoyed meeting so many different people over the course of two days; some came with their first ever garden on a brand new development plot, which gave me a blank canvas.

“Others had inherited a mature setting that needed renewing and bringing up to date with fresh planting ideas.

“My advice was sought for tricky access requirements to houses built in to banks and others with questions of feasibility for larger schemes.

“Happily there were many lovely plants to show people, which made my job so much easier.”

The Nursery at Miserden is an independent nursery stocking both traditional and unusual plants in a stunning location.

Miserden Nursery owner Julie Dolphin was very pleased with the attendance: “Our customers absolutely loved the clinic and went away with some great ideas from Rachael.

“They all commented on her ability to very quickly understand what they wanted to achieve from their gardens and were totally inspired by her imaginative design solutions and terrific plant knowledge."
