A 10-year-old girl from Rodborough had all her hair shaved off to raise money for charity.
On Wednesday, July 4 Jenny Sampson had her head shaved in front of her entire year 5 class at Gastrells Primary School.
Jenny has raised £750, well surpassing her £500 target, and also donated her hair to the Princess Trust.
This meant that Mr Cantoni, teaching assistant at Gastrells, had to make good on his promise to shave his own head if Jenny met her target.
Jenny’s sister Katie said: “Jenny had been counting down for the two weeks prior to the event as she was so excited.
“Jenny doesn't understand why everyone thinks she is brave, she simply days that it will soon grow back.
“Gastrells teachers, children and parents have been fantastically supportive.”
Jenny was spurred in to action after learning one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer and of the 1,800 children diagnosed in the UK each year, 250 die.
“This made her want to take action and raise money for cancer research,” added Katie.
