FORECASTERS have issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms across the region, from lunchtime today.

The warning, which was issued by the Met Office, is due to come into force at 11.00am this morning, and will run until 8pm tonight.

There is the potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms during today and some flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, perhaps leading to some damage to buildings.

Additionally, there is a good chance driving conditions will at times be affected by spray and standing water, leading to some minor journey delays.

Some short term loss of power and other services due to lightning strikes is possible, and travellers are advised to check routes before leaving home.
