A Stonehouse resident has set up a mannequin outside her home to support the town in Heart of England in Bloom.

Ruth Williams wanted to join in with the community's bid to get the town looking good before the visit of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) judges on Wednesday, July 11.

She spent months designing the mannequin, Albert, his dog Sykes and his cart full of flowers.

The mannequin and mask were bought and a car boot sale and the wood was free from a garden centre.

Ruth, who lives on The Lawns with her husband of 54 years Ivan, said: "We want to be part of the community. I just enjoy putting things together and trying to impress people.

"We have had so many people stop and ask us about him. All the school children have been pointing at him.

Stonehouse was visited by RHS judges Roger Bache and Mark Wiltshire.
