WHO was Stroud’s secret suffragist?
Those in town on Saturday found that out first-hand thanks to a street performance celebrating the life and legacy of Margaret Hills.
Actor Kim Baker performed four discrete monologues written by Jacqui Stearn that drew upon Margaret’s life story and celebrated her work as a key suffragist organiser and speaker.
In fact Margaret was Stroud's first female district councillor, and later served on Gloucestershire County Council.
