The following is a reader submitted letter taken from the SNJ of Wednesday, July 18.

HORSLEY tip has at last reopened, hooray.

However, what has improved there I must ask.

It was bad enough it was shut during the summer and not the winter to make these improvements.

We went there on Tuesday, June 26, at 11am to drop off some garden waste.

We drove into the approach lanes only to find that the gate at the other end was shut and we, along with many others, were then trapped in the queue.

In 27 degrees heat we were forced to wait for 45 minutes while the operatives moved skips around and used the new compactor.

Why move skips which were obviously nearly full the day before at that time of day is beyond belief.

Why not do this when the tip is closed?

It’s bad enough that the tip is only open between 9am and 6.30pm especially in the summer.

Further down the queue we could see a lady with young children trapped, no one came along to inform us what was occurring or how long we would be waiting.

We eventually got to the ‘new’ style skip and dropped our rubbish and back in the car in two minutes.

Then leaving the site we discovered that the Horsley Road was at a complete grid lock through this inefficiency.

I contacted Gloucestershire County Council but the helpful lady on the switchboard was unable to find anyone who I could speak to so gave me a email address to send my comments to.

So I failed to actually speak to anyone.
