Renishaw has announced record turnover for the second consecutive year.

The engineering firm based at New Mills, Wotton under Edge, announced turnover of £611.5 m for the year ending June 30.

Revenue grew in each of the regions around the world in which Renishaw operates, with an average increase of 14 per cent.

They also announced record pre-tax profits of £145.1m, an increase of 33 per cent.

Executive Chairman Sir David McMurty said: “The Group is in a strong financial position and continues to invest in the development of new products and applications.

“We have experienced strong growth in 2018 and, whilst noting ongoing uncertainty surrounding Brexit and currency exchange rate volatility, the directors remain confident in the long-term prospects for the Group.”

The company also announced a total shareholder return of 48 per cent, placing Renishaw 18th in the FTSE 250.

The workforce has grown by 332 people in the last year, including 122 graduates and apprentices.
