A MUCH-LOVED Painswick café currently called The Patchwork Mouse is set for change after it reopened earlier this July.

Under new owners, Alistair Spiers and fiancée Gemma Marks, the popular Painswick eatery could soon be re-named 'The Painswick Pooch'.

The new name will reflect the starring role played by their own pooch, Poppy the miniature schnauzer, but other dogs will also be made welcome.

In pursuing this change, the couple has submitted documents to Stroud District Council which show a mock-up of the proposed new shopfront, along with new catchphrase 'Coffee and Cake for humans and hounds'.

In addition, although Painswick's Planning Committee has supported the plans, there have been some reservations about the colour of red which they aim to use for the word 'Pooch'.

Of course food will still be sourced from high quality producers within the community.

So, why not take a trip down to The Patchwork Mouse or the soon to be 'Painswick Pooch' for coffee and cake.
