A cat has been shot in the head in Stroud with an air rifle.

Buttercup has lost one eye after she was shot near her home on Summer Street last Thursday morning.

Police believe the shooting took place between 6.30am and 7.20am.

Owner Christine Herring rushed Buttercup to Bowbridge Vets when the cat ran back into the house with her injuries.

The vets had to operate on Buttercup and remove her right eye.

“Luckily the bullet didn’t touch the brain, but she’s in a lot of pain,” Christine told the SNJ.

“Whoever did this must be pretty messed up.”

Christine has since been posting leaflets around Stroud in the hope of getting more information on who might be behind the shooting.
