The cows on Minchinhampton Common have been spotted eating the signs that are meant to protect them.
All around the common are warnings for drivers to slow down in an effort to reduce cow deaths.
But over the weekend two cows decided to tuck in to the signs.
“This is a typical thing cattle get up to,” explained hayward Mark Dawkins, who has watched over the common’s cows for nearly twenty years.
“Cattle love chewing plastic - they often pick up bottles from the side of the road, have a munch, then spit them back out.”
Two cows died on Rodborough Common in June, a month after they were released to graze over the summer.
They had injuries consistent with a collision with a car.
