MORE THAN £3000 has been raised for two new defibrillators installed at the popular Kings Head pub and Gastrells Primary School in Stroud to the joy of residents.

This comes after the the Rodborough community were concerned about the lack of defibrillators, which are a device that gives high a electric shock to the heart of someone in cardiac arrest.

According to Louis Cooper of South Western Ambulance, training for the defibrillator is not absolutely necessary as the device has written and verbal instructions in order for it to be operated by anyone.

Fortunately, this could prove life saving move as the speed at which the shock is delivered affects the victims survival.

It is understood that the money for the life saving equipment was raised largely by pub-goers amongst other businesses and community organisations such as Barton End Stables.

Carol Nichol, co-owner and landlady of the Kings Head gave her thanks to community.

"We were not surprised at the generosity of the regulars and everyone else who has raised funds for several projects over the years," said Ms Nichol.
