Homebase has announced the 42 stores that will be closing under its restructuring plan - and the shop in Stroud is not one of them.

In a statement released today, the retailer revealed the stores that will be shutting during late 2018 and early 2019 due to declining sales performance and profitability, including ones in Bristol and Swindon.

But the store in Stroud, along with other branches in Gloucestershire including Cheltenham, Gloucester and Ledbury, will all continue to trade.

In a statement, the company’s CEO, Damian McGloughlin, said: “Homebase has been one of the most recognisable retail brands for almost 40 years, but the reality is we need to continue to take decisive action to address the underperformance of the business and deal with the burden of our cost base, as well as to protect thousands of jobs.”
