In June the SNJ reported that a Slad resident and US citizen had been deported back to her home country after making an 'innocent' mistake when applying for her visa.

The below letter was sent in to the SNJ by a reader in response - read the original article here: stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/news/16312157.slad-newly-weds-heart-ache-after-wife-deported/

REF the SNJ of June 27, and the sad and sorrowful article about recently weds Daniel Edwards and American Jenn Singer with their ongoing battle with the bureaucrats of the UK Home Office.

I had very slowly reached the conclusion that we at last had that very rare breed of politician and minister with common sense and humanitarian values in charge of the Home Office, Sajid Javid, MP.

It now appears that I was quite wrong.

These civil service bureaucrats are still in complete charge – as with all government departments.

Sajid Javid should put his foot down with these insubordinates with a crash they wouldn’t forget.

Previous Home Secretaries have all been too mealy mouthed.

Over several more recent years I myself have ‘unjoyed’ experiences with this throng.

As David Drew MP states: “Sadly all too often our experience, (his case workers), of Home Office procedures has been poor”!

For myself I honestly hope that Daniel and Jenn are very soon together as they should be.

After all aren’t America and US supposed to have a ‘special relationship’ now being bureaucratically denied these two people.
