TODAY pupils from Wycliffe College are celebrating an extraordinary set of A level results, which will allow them to push forward their prospective careers.

Many school leavers are set to move onto further education at universities such as Oxford, the Imperial College of London and the University College of London.

Nick Gregory, headteacher of Wycliffe College, said that his students were genuinely enthusiastic about the subjects that they studied.

"We believe the sheer breadth and variety of the Wycliffe curriculum is intended to allow our leavers to study things out which they are genuinely enthusiastic," explained Mr Gregory.

"This then enables our pupils to take the 'next steps' about which they are hugely excited."

One the Wycliffe's students, Annie Rees from Stonehouse, will be heading to Imperial College to study medicine with her two A*s and two A grades in maths, chemistry, physics and further maths.

In addition, India Duke from Wotton-under-Edge achieved two A*s and an A in chemistry, economics and maths - this has allowed her to take up a place studying philosophy, politics and economics at a college in Oxford.

However, two thirds of the school’s A and A* grades in STEM subjects come from its female students.

In fact, from 14 of the 28 subjects offered at Wycliffe, more than two thirds of grades were above B which further highlights this year’s success.

"As always, we are very proud of every single one of them, especially since we are aware of the adversity and personal challenges that several of them have had to overcome to get this far," added Mr Gregory.
