AN ABUSED puppy is now on the mend after having its broken leg amputated, thanks to Stroud's Clockhouse Vets.

"We were devastated to be doing this to a puppy of only 5 months old, but his leg could not be saved and we needed to relieve him from the pain he was suffering," said a spokeswoman from Clockhouse Vets.

Buddy was brought to the Clockhouse Vets early last year, after his owner reported that he had fallen down the stairs and hurt his leg.

However, employees from the Stroud veterinary hospital can now confirm that Buddy was an unfortunate victim of animal abuse.

"Some weeks passed and the RSPCA soon confirmed that Buddy was indeed a victim of animal cruelty," she explained.

"The owner was prosecuted, but we are relieved that Buddy is now officially free from his past and has been rehomed."

Despite this, the vets were sad to let Buddy go as he had become family - this is why he now lives with a member of their staff.

"We are delighted to say that Buddy has been enjoying his new life to the full, alongside his best friend," added the spokeswoman.

"He continues to make us smile and he will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts."
