A homelessness charity in Stroud received a big donation this week thanks to a production of a Shakespearean classic.
Every year as of 2015 a group of Houndscroft residents put on a show - Houndstock - to entertain the community while raising money for good causes.
Proceeds from its first year, which was 70s themed, went to Shelterbox, an international disaster relief charity, and charities since have included Stroud children’s charity the Door and Longfield Hospice.
This year the charity of choice was Marah, which provides weekly drop-in sessions for vulnerable adults in Stroud.
The Houndstock team joined forces with the Rain or Shine Theatre Company, based in Gloucester, for a production of Much Ado About Nothing.
It raised over £1,000 for Marah and those behind Houndstock dropped off a big cheque on Monday.
“This will feed over three hundred people - it’s a phenomenal amount,” said Marah’s Jackie Natt as she accepted the cheque.
Marah is currently looking for 100 donors to donate a meal a month for just £3.
