HUNDREDS of people from across the Five Valleys came together to celebrate Stroud’s first Pride picnic.

Although the weather started overcast and windy, the sun soon appeared to reveal rainbow flags and glittering face paint as families came together to celebrate the diverse and welcoming Cotswold town.

Dursley's Saggy Feathers welcomes everyone to the inaugural Stroud Pride picnic:

Aside from a bar provided by the Little George, there was live music from musician Henry-Cameron Allen.

Additionally anthemic tunes were belted out by smiling visitors to the park to an appreciative audience, who applauded each act in turn.

Organiser John Copley said that the event had exceeded all expectations.

"It's been fantastic to see so many people come together to celebrate our first Stroud Pride," he said.

"So many smiling faces and fantastic colourful outfits. thank you to everyone who helped make it happen."

David Drew, MP for Stroud, said: “It was great to join so many friendly, smiling faces celebrating diversity at Stroud's first Pride picnic event held in Bank Gardens yesterday.

"There was a great atmosphere and celebrating our vibrant community was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

"Well done to the organisers and volunteers for making this event happen.”
