A new solar panel is being unveiled in Stroud this Saturday - and people are invited to come have a look.

The so-called Heliomotion, which has been designed and manufactured in Finland and installed by Green Shop Solar in Bisley, is the first of its kind to arrive in the UK.

Unlike other solar panel systems, the Heliomotion has two panels with a dual axis and is ground mounted on a pole.

Using its onboard GPS controller, it both tilts and tracks the sun from sunrise to sunset, generating power all day.

Heliomotion is available in 3 sizes at the moment, 2 panel (650 watt), 4 panel (1.3 kilowatt) and a 6 panel (2 kilowatt) system.

Melissa Briggs, who is managing the company’s International Business Development from Stroud comments: “This is a genius invention - for those who cannot have a rooftop system owing to the house facing the wrong way, badly sited velux or dormer windows or because of trees casting too much shade, the Heliomotion can be placed anywhere in your garden or on your driveway.

"No scaffolding or lifting equipment is required which makes installation easier and cheaper.

"You can charge your electric car, power your house, save money and the planet all at the same time!”

The launch event takes place at R & R House, Paganhill Lane, GL5 4JP (right opposite the Fire Station) on August 25 between 11.30 am and 3.30 pm.

Heliomotion and Green Shop Solar will be there to meet people and answer questions.

Refreshments will be available.
