Nailsworth & District Flower Arrangement Society

MARGARET Heal from Bridgwater was the demonstrator at our September meeting, her title being “Inspirations”.

Margaret, who is a farmer’s wife, grows many of her own flowers and regularly supplies quantities in the hundreds of sweet peas for weddings and other events.

For her first two placement arrangement Margaret used boat shaped containers to arrange pale pink lizzyanthus, pale green anthuriums, and a pale mauve rose named ‘antique’, finishing her design with pink medalina sticks threaded through phormium leaves.

Margaret’s second two place arrangement consisted of white “Liberty” roses cascading down through the foliage into glass bowls.

Margaret then produced a fan shape made using lime green medalina sticks into which she placed white hydrangeas, surrounded by facsia leaves, making a beautiful hand-tied arrangement.

Margaret then used an urn to arrange pink amaranthus, pink sedum, purple smoke bush (Cotinus), pink perennial sweet peas and alstroemeria ‘Queen Mum’.

A tall box shaped container was used for the next design, which consisted of phormium, green amaranthus, white gladioli, ‘Mint’ chrysanthemums, white antirrhinums ‘The Bride’ and sweet peas.

For her final arrangement Margaret used a tall Grecian shaped urn in which she arranged pineapple lilies, Chinese lanterns, sunflowers and yellow chrysanthemums.

Sarah Pearson gave the vote of thanks.
