ONE of Warrington’s oldest war veterans celebrated his 102nd birthday with a special reception at the Mayor of Warrington’s parlour.
An appeal was launched in the Warrington Guardian last month for birthday cards to be sent to Sid Wilson, from Cinnamon Brow, ahead of his birthday celebration.
The granddad-of-one, who served in the air force for four-and-a-half years, was surprised by the card collection and reception which included an RAF cake.
Organiser and friend Julie Francis said guests including Royal British Legion representatives and council members all sang happy birthday to Sid and cards came from as far as Australia and Canada.
