POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a suspected arson attack in Stroud on Sunday night.

The arsonists may have attempted to break into a car in Stroud before setting it on fire, police say.

It is thought that a car parked on Deveraux Road in Ebley was purposely set on fire at around half past midnight on Sunday (16 September).

Evidence at the scene suggests that offenders attempted to break into the car before pouring a liquid over the vehicle and setting it alight.

CCTV footage shows someone wearing grey clothing who was running down the road around the time of the incident.

Additionally the person may have fled the scene in a is thought to have left the area in a white Volkswagen Golf.
