Marling School is the joint 14th highest grammar school in the country for Value Added* at A-level and is in the top 10 per cent nationally of all state, independent, academy schools and sixth forms.

Results published last week by the Department for Education confirm that in 2018, A-level students at Marling made more progress than students at most other schools in the country.

More than 200 girls attended the Sixth Form open evening in November.

Isabella Edgell, a Year 11 student at Sir William Romney ‘s School said: “I am really excited about being part of the first group of girls in Marling Sixth Form.

“I came to the open evening and really liked that and then had a tour of the school with two current students who are doing the subjects I want to study at A Level.

“They were really friendly and it was so useful to talk to them about what it is like being a student there.”

Each year, up to a third of students entering Marling Sixth Form join from other schools across the region.

Marc Boixader-Riera, who joined Marling Sixth Form from Sir William Romney’s School said: “I chose Marling Sixth Form because it offered amazing opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. I am really glad I came here – it is very friendly and I am doing so many exciting things. In March, for example, I will be travelling with a group of Y12 students to take part in a ‘Change the World’ conference in the United Nations in New York.’ Following the publication of the DfE league tables, Dr Stuart Wilson, headteacher of Marling School said: “The A level value added figures are fantastic news for us and confirm our belief that we are providing the best possible learning environment for all our students, no matter their entry level.

“Whether students join us with ten grade 9s at GCSE or five grade 6s, they can get better A Levels than if they studied almost anywhere else.”

Applications for entry to Marling Sixth Form in September 2019 should be submitted by February 15.
