ONE of our favourite local walks has been ruined.
The scene on Sunday at the Cotswold Water Park - Neigh Bridge - was absolutely disgraceful.
One would think that there was no such thing as Covid 19.
My visitors and I were absolutely disgusted at what we saw.
Yes, it was very crowded with little or no social distancing - but worse was the blatant disregard for the official prohibitions in place as well as the safety warnings about swimming in polluted water with dangerous levels of toxicity from algae pollution.
Rubbish was strewn about, bins were overflowing, numerous inflatables, in one case the digging of a massive barbecue, loud music across the lake and even what appeared to be a ‘campsite’ with several tents.
And of course there are no facilities here as this is an area designated for simple walks and taking in the peace and tranquillity of the lake.
I do understand the need for folk to escape towns and cities on a warm summer’s day and, as quite a few of the people appeared to be non-English speaking, might it be helpful to have noticeboards worded in several languages?
