DIGGING started in Gloucester yesterday, as forensic teams began excavating in the cellar of the Clean Plate café on Southgate Street.
It is thought that serial killer Fred West may have buried teenager Mary Bastholm there over 50 years ago.
At the centre of the investigation is the hope that some form of closure for Mary's family can be found.
