A NEW lollipop lady has been found for St Matthew's Primary School after a poster campaign by pupils.
Emma Hewish applied to patrol the busy Westward Road school crossing in Stroud after seeing posters designed by her own children Isobel, nine, and Alex, six.
"Isobel and Alex did some posters to advertise the position and it put the idea into my head," said Emma, 35, of Cainscross.
Emma, who works at Imagine Nursery, said the job was also important to her because Isobel was knocked down by a car two years ago.
Acting headteacher Jan Gleed said Emma was the perfect candidate for the job.
"She is very smiley, friendly and bubbly. She has got good social skills and has experience of working with children," she said.
Mrs Gleed said having a lollipop lady would encourage more pupils to walk to school.
The school ran a competition to design a poster to recruit a lollipop lady which was won by by Bracken Tully, seven, who entered a drawing, and Sharna Ali-Khan, nine, who wrote a poem.
The last lollipop lady, Marg Davies, had to leave her role a year ago.
Emma is due to start on Monday, February 25.
