BUMPY the grumpy tabby who desperately needed a new home has been tamed by a librarian.

Malcolm Tarling, 58, from Boverton Drive in Brockworth, rehomed the five-year-old cat after hearing of her plight in the SNJ.

Five Valleys Cat Rescue said nobody seemed to want her because she was a little temperamental and had been known to nip people.

But Malcolm, who has only been scratched once by his new pet, said all she needed was some attention.

"I think it was more of a question of her being ignored," said Malcolm, who works at Stroud library.

"She likes playing with bits of string and loves her ears and tummy being rubbed.

"She only scratched me when she was in the garden and I tried to pick her up - but she was in unfamiliar territory."

Bumpy has settled well into her new home and Malcolm said she is there to stay.
