SUMMER holiday activities for children who live in the Stroud district will be available to book from mid-day on Wednesday, July 5.

These activities range from sport, dance and drama to music, craft and more during four weeks of the school summer holiday from July 26 to September 1.

Some of the activities will be reserved for children from reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals (the Holiday Activity and Food programme, or HAF).

The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme is designed to make sure children and young people who receive free school meals are entertained, active, educated, safe and fed during the school summer holiday and is funded by the Department for Education.

Other activities will be available for all children and young people.

Last year Stroud District Council partners delivered more than 40 different summer holiday activities which more than 1400 children attended.

Cllr Beki Aldam, chair of Stroud District Council community services and licensing committee said:

“Keeping children entertained during the summer holiday is difficult for many parents, particularly during the ongoing Cost of Living Crisis.

"Our holiday activities will give children in the Stroud district access to a host of fun, healthy activities, whatever their background or life situation.”

Cllr Trevor Hall, vice chair said: “The Holiday Activity programme supports the Council Plan to embed equality, diversity and inclusion across the district, with targeted support for those who experience the most disadvantage in our communities.”
