TUCKED away under a green umbrella in the corner of the Square, at the top of the side steps, between Seb’s Cider and Frocester fayre, you will find Saira’s South Asian Snacks.

Husband Sanjeev, a radiologist in the week, mans the stall and brings Saira’s unique range of snacks and flavours, including ready meals, to the market. Saira and the fam grow as much of the vegetables for their products as they can and this week, she excitedly messaged to say she had managed to grow some “good sized beetroots” for the first time. This Saturday the first of those beetroots will be transformed into spicy beetroot pakoras, for your delectation. she also informed me that just a few weeks away is the kashmiri apple achar (chutney)!

Back this week after an enforced, but unwanted absence, is Jack Bakes. Jack’s Free From baking is incredibly popular and has been sorely missed in August. The range of products is fantastic, with savouries such as stuffed potato cakes and leek and broccoli tart jostling for space with sweets such as custard tart, pecan pie and chocolate tiffin. All gluten and dairy free and without refined sugars.

Also back to market after the summer gap is Newark Farm, with organically grown summer veg and potatoes and their unique organic, multi-coloured free range eggs. Also at market are 1st of the monthers Escento Soaps, Bath Soft Cheeses, Kalya Skincare, Bow in the Cloud Vineyard and the Garlic Farm. Come on down folks!
