A Stroud man has admitted driving an Audi on the M5 while on cocaine.

Michael Chatfield, aged 37, of Bowbridge Lock, Stroud, admitted two charges.

He drove an Audi A5 on the M5 northbound near Stroud on March 4 with cocaine in his system.

According to the court register, the proportion of cocaine was 11 micrograms per litre of blood.

He also admitted driving while the proportion of benzoylecgonine - a metabolite of cocaine - in his blood was 786 micrograms per litre.

Chatfield appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, September 5.

He was banned from driving for a year and must an £80 fine plus a £32 victim surcharge.
