THOMAS Keble school is celebrating after 28 of its students won top awards in a prestigious design technology competition.
A further 125 students picked up bronze awards at the BA Crest Awards at GE Aviation in Bishops Cleve, Cheltenham on June 25, the best achievement ever by Thomas Keble students.
The aim of the competition, which celebrates high achievement in design technology, was to encourage students to design and make an innovative product of their choice, and present it to a number of examiners.
Among the most promising designs on display were works by Katie Shaylor, Sophie Birch and Katherine Birkin, who all won highly sought after Silver Crest awards.
Miss Shaylor, who produced a handbag for a vegan society, also won the under 16s technology prize and a large sum of money for Thomas Keble, beating fourteen other schools in the county.
Chris Steer, headteacher at Thomas Keble said: "We are delighted to see our student's hard work be recognised and celebrated. This is an excellent outcome for us."
CREST, which stands for Creativity in Science and Technology, is a nation-wide science, technology, engineering and maths award scheme managed by the BA, British Association for the Advancement of Science.
The scheme, which is split into regional awards, encourages students to develop their technological curiosity and find solutions to problems or tasks, in the same way as professional scientists and engineers.
