Inspectors visited Eastcombe Primary School on Wednesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 12.

It was also rated as good in the school's previous inspections in 2018 and 2013.

In the latest report, the school achieved a good rating in three of the four categories: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, leadership and management.

It also received an outstanding rating for personal development, plus a good rating overall.

Inspectors praised the school's friendly feel, saying it also had 'high aspirations for all pupils.'

"The school has fostered a family feel.

“It has high aspirations for all pupils, as reflected in its vision that pupils, including children in the early years, should ‘aim high, believe and achieve.

"The school provides a wealth of memorable experiences to bring pupil's learning to life.

"Its support for pupils' personal development is exceptional.

“The school prioritises pupils’ well-being and safety.

“Pupils are a credit to the school."

In order to improve, inspectors raised minor issues with the curriculum.

They said: "In a small number of subjects, the improved curriculum is in its infancy.

"In these subjects, assessment is not yet sufficiently well developed.

"Therefore, teaching does not check that pupils routinely build on previous learning.

"The school should embed the curriculum and refine assessment so that pupils are well supported to know and remember more."

Head Claire Jones said: "We are delighted with the outcome of our recent inspection and pleased that the report really reflects us as a school.

"We are ambitious for our learners and we provide exciting and memorable experiences and opportunities, ensuring we take learning beyond the classroom. We pride ourselves on small class sizes, offering personalised learning opportunities and outstanding personal development for each child.

"Thank you to all of our school family and wider community for their contributions and much valued support.

"The children, staff, governors, parents, family members, local and wider community all have shared ownership of this ‘good’ grade."
