STUDENTS of West Herts College opened its doors to more than 100 senior citizens once again this year for its annual Christmas party.

The event, a prominent feature of the college's social calender for the past 15 years, was held at the Cassio campus in Langley Road on Wednesday.

Students from the travel and tourism department took to the stage to provide festive entertainment for the party following the theme of A Musical Christmas.

Party-goers who gathered at the campus from 11am participated in seasonal games and fun competitions before sitting down to a Christmas dinner prepared by students of the college's catering and hospitality department.

Events co-ordinator for West Herts College Mrs Hillary Bond said the students had worked hard throughout the year to raise funds for the annual party.

Mrs Bond said: "They really throw themselves into providing the best possible party for the senior citizens on the day.

"The college receives many letters of thanks after each year's event from those who attended it.

"The college is proud to organise the Christmas party every year. Our students gain a great deal from studying in Watford and the party is an opportunity for them to give something back to the community."
