A FATHER has been left in intensive care following a fall from a roof in Minchinhampton.
Martin Exell, 42, a self employed builder was renovating the property of butcher Mark Robinson, owner of L Taylor and Sons, in West End, when he fell through a skylight and landed on concrete floor below.
Steve Robinson, who also works at the butchers, said: "It was about 10.30am, we were working in the shop and heard a massive crash next door.
"We just saw Martin lying on the floor and called an ambulance straight away.
"We've known Martin for a long time, he's well-known around the village because he's done up a lot of people's houses.
"He's a lovely man, a real perfectionist. We are really shaken by what's happened."
Mr Exell is thought to be married with children.
He has been taken to Frenchay hospital with life threatening head injuries.
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident and a joint investigation with police has begun.
