Stroud pupils invited to enter 'Can you big it up?'

Year 7 pupils are being invited to enter a national poster competition which could see them winning £5000 to spend on brightening up their school canteen or dining hall.

The School Food Trust has organised the ‘Can U Big It Up?’ competition to promote healthy meals and increase school meal uptake in secondary schools.

The judging criteria is: Is the poster aimed at the correct target market?

Is the poster appealing to the target market?

Does the poster hit the objective of encouraging more children to have a healthy school dinner?

Is the headline engaging?

Creative use of images?

Does the work get across why healthy school meals are good for you?

How creative is the way it gets across this message?

The posters will be judged by a top London advertising agency and the winning entry will be available for display in school canteens all over the country. The winning pupil will also have the opportunity to suggest how the £5,000 of prize money is spent on their canteen.

Cllr Joan Nash, Lead Cabinet Member for Schools, said: “Meals in secondary schools have been transformed over the last two years and we want to encourage pupils to eat them.  What better way than using the talents of Year 7 pupils to come up with creative ideas?”

“It would be very exciting if the winner came from a Gloucestershire school as the posters would be displayed in school dining halls and canteens all over the country.”

All entries must be received by 31st March to: ‘Can U Big It Up?’ School Food Trust Moorfoot Sheffield S1 4PQ
