THE popular Kemble Air Show will now be a two-day event, organisers have confirmed. The 2009 Kemble Air Show will take place over the weekend of 20/21 June.

Display organiser Glen Moreman said: "Kemble Air Show has outgrown its one day status.

"Being so popular, one day really isn’t long enough now for everything we would like to squeeze in."

The change will enable some different aircraft to appear each day and will make it easier for people to stay long enough to watch a spectacular hot-air balloon ascent on the Saturday evening.

"We know that Sunday isn’t always convenient for everyone – and now our many visitors will have the opportunity to attend either Saturday, Sunday or both days," said Mr Moreman.

"We will be offering a discounted ticket for both days."

The weather also lies behind the decision.

Kemble Air Show has so far not suffered, unlike many other major events, but, as Mr Moreman points out, "even in England we’re a lot less likely to get bad weather two days running".

An exciting programme is being put together.

Organisers are staying tight-lipped, but are confident of seeing the Red Arrows return to display at their former home.

The RAF’s famous aerobatic team missed the 2008 Kemble Air Show as it was touring Canada.

Tickets for the 2009 Kemble Air Show will be on sale from March 1.
