A TRADITIONAL procession, a firefighting demonstration and live music were among dozens of attractions at Randwick Wap.
Hundreds of families took part in the medieval May celebration, which is thought to be the oldest village fete in Britain.
Saturday's fun began with a procession from the war memorial in Church Road. Wap mayor Alan Tomlinson and wap queen Saffron Tomlinson, 15, who are father and daughter from The Hill, Randwick, were carried through the streets, followed by 43 children in traditional costume.
Unfortunately the main event, a display from the Silver Stars Parachute Display Team did not go ahead.
Firefighters from Stroud staged several demonstrations, including how to extinguish a chip pan fire.
Randwick Playgroup held a gymnasium for toddlers and Randwick Primary School sold cream teas.
There was also maypole dancing, a circus skills demonstration, a tug of war, a football tournament, morris dancing and welly-wanging.
The entertainment continued in the evening with live music in the Vine Tree Inn and a children’s disco in the village hall.
