STUDENTS at Archway School had plenty to smile about as many of them achieved some impressive grades this year.

Among the six-formers celebrating this morning, Thursday, August 20, was 18-year-old Adam Chodera, who gained an A in maths and Bs in physics and further maths.

"I did a lot of cramming, but overall I am very pleased," said Adam, who hopes to study computer science at Loughborough University from September.

Another high achiever was Fred Pitel, 18, who picked up As in maths and further maths alongside a B in physics and is now going on to read maths at the University of Bath.

He said: "I spent six weeks revising for a couple of hours a day. I said some rude words when I opened my results paper – I am over the moon."

Elsewhere, 18-year-old Jade Kemmett pulled out all the stops to gain three Ds in sociology, geography and art, despite being predicted Es.

"I am very pleased with that," she said.

"I am not sure what to do next but I am strongly considering university and then a career in the police."

Dedication also paid off for Jamie Cipriani, 17, who achieved a merit in his business BTech – the equivalent of an A-Level A.

He now plans to complete a second business BTech at Stroud College before heading off to university.

Head teacher Colin Belford, who was busy congratulating students all morning, said: "It is a lovely atmosphere and I am really proud of the level of effort the students put in.

"It is exciting to see them excited about what they are going on to do."
