POLITICIANS and activists met at the Four Clocks in Stroud on Saturday to start the countdown to the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
The gathering followed a meeting in Bedford Street Congregational Church where the campaigners asked the politicians for action over global warming.
It was part of the global campaign Great Persuasion, which aimed to lobby about 2,000 parliamentarians in more than 50 countries.
Christian Aid member Alison Richards, who helped organise the event, said: "All three of the politicians were very much agreed with what we were asking for.
"They were supporting each other and saying we need to take action on climate change and the UK needs to take a lead."
The meeting was attended by MP David Drew, Conservative parliamentary candidate Neil Carmichael and Green parliamentary candidate Martin Whiteside.
Also in attendance were Alison and Huge Richards, of Christian Aid, Su Chard, of Nailsworth Quaker Meeting, and Isabelle Cockcroft, who will attend the conference.
The activists want global leaders at the summit, which runs from December 7 to 18, to set realistic carbon reduction targets and to pledge support to developing countries in tackling climate change.
