Police in Gloucester launch a crack down on anti-social behaviour

police in Gloucester have launched an operation to crack down on anti-social behaviour throughout the city on the run up to Christmas.

Operation Attain was launched on Saturday November 14 and will run up until Christmas Eve in addition to the usual extra weekend street safe patrols.

During this time extra patrols will specifically target those behaving anti-socially and will direct them to leave the city centre and make their way home.

The Operation Attain team made four arrests last weekend for offences ranging from assault to drunk and incapable.

The team will also be conducting checks at licensed premises to ensure that staff are not allowing entry to people, or serving people, who have already had too much to drink.

Late night food places will be policed to make sure they do not continue to serve customers after their permitted opening hours and private hire taxis will be checked to ensure they are only picking up customers who have pre booked.

PC Matt Hammond, from the Gloucester City Safer Community Team, said: “This is a busy time of the year as many people are out celebrating and letting their hair down in the run up to Christmas.

“Our aim is to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable night out in Gloucester and that they get home safely at the end of it.

“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and those who choose to act in an inappropriate way will be dealt with.”
