SIR Ian McKellen recently helped youngsters at Severn Vale School in Quedgeley tackle homophobic bullying.
Famous for his roles in the Lord of The Rings trilogy and X Men films, the celebrated actor ran a session of drama workshops for students on Monday which led to a performance later in the day.
Sir Ian is also famous for his work with Stonewall, a charity which works for equality for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals.
The event, which links with anti-bullying week, not only drew attention to how bullying can blight young people’s lives but helped highlight the positive work being carried out in schools like Severn Vale to help create a safe environment for pupils.
Student and staff representatives from every secondary school in the county attended the event to show that they will not tolerate any form of bullying, homophobic or otherwise.
