STUART LITTLE'S has retained his European Tour card for the first time in his golfing career.

A sparkling European Tour has resulted in the 37-year-old Nailsworth -based golfer being awarded his card for 2006.

"This is the first hurdle for me and naturally I'm delighted," said Little. The Michinhampton professional attributes part of his success down to psychologist Carl Morris.

"We've been together since March and I think he's been able to put into place quite a few issues that I had in the past," said Little.

The big-hitting left-hander was this week enjoying a rare week off from his busy schedule after an impressive performance at the Scottish Open.

A memorable year was capped in Scotland last week when the Minchinhampton professional bagged four birdies on the back nine at Loch Lomond to grab a share of the lead after the first round of the Scottish Open.

Little hit a seven-under-par round of 64, despite dropping a shot on his first hole.

Lee Westwood was tied for third with former Open champion Paul Lawrie on six under, world number three Ernie Els could only manage a 70. World number five Retief Goosen carded 71.

Little's bright beginning dipped somewhat as he followed his first round 64 with two 73s before a final 76 to finish on two over par, South African Tim Clark claimed first prize on 19 under par.

Little can have no complaints as he prepares for his next tournament in Hamburg next week.

"My finish was disappointing, but overall I'm very happy."
