WYCLIFFE students complimented the school’s 99 per cent A-level pass rate by receiving 20 of the coveted new A* grades.

The school's overall pass rate rose again this year with an increase in the percentage of A grades, rising for the sixth year in a row at the college.

Head Margie Burnet Ward said, "These are another exceptional set of results for our students.

"We are particularly pleased that, even with a tightening of the standards this year, there has been another improvement in our pass rate."

Among the top performing students with all A grades is Head of School, Ollie Capehorn, 18, from Hawkesbury Upton who will be taking his place at Oxford to read law with French.

"I flew back from Japan yesterday and all I could think about was my results. I am extremely pleased and relieved with what I got," he said.

Other notable successes, with all A and A* grades, include Matt Gillett, of Berkeley, Rosie Collins from Slimbridge and Alex MacDougall from North Woodchester who secured places at Bath University, Durham and UCL respectively.

Among the sixth formers celebrating was 18-year-old Johanna Frerichs, of Bath, who wants to be a clinical psychologist.

She secured a place at the University of Exeter studying psychology with two As in German and biology as well as a treasured A* in psychology.

"I am shocked. I only needed three As and did not expect an A*, especially in the subject I will study at university," she said.
